ASA Brooklyn Avengers Women's Basketball Team Goes to 2019 Monroe Invitational

New Rochelle, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers women's basketball team enters the 2019 Monroe Invitational on a 2-game winning streak.  The Avengers played against CCBC Essex on November 23rd and against Nassau CC on November 24th

In the first game on November 23rd, the Avengers faced an aggressive defense from CCBC Essex from the opening minutes of the game.  Faced with a full-court ball pressure, the Avengers never found an offensive rhythm.  Although the Avengers were able to hold CCBC Essex to 35% shooting, the Avengers 35 turnovers proved to be too much to overcome.  CCBC Essex won the game 87-57.  The standouts of the game were #2 Shanese Miller and #13 Ariana Johnson who both scored in double digits with 14 points and 12 points respectively.  #22 Muray Nelson also contributed with 8 pts and 10 rebounds.

In the second game on November 24th, the Avengers played a rematch against Nassau CC from earlier in the season.  The Avengers came out with a lead on both the 1st and 2nd quarters, leading Nassau by 7 points at the end of the 1sthalf.  Although the Avengers had 58 rebounds to Nassau's 36, the Avengers ultimately wasn't able to seal the win as 41 turnovers again proved too much to overcome.  #2 Shanese Miller and #3 Akilah Stewart both scored in double digits with 15 pts and 14 pts respectively while #22 Muray Nelson brought down 14 rebounds.

The ASA Brooklyn Avengers women's basketball team next travels to Sullivan County Community College on December 7th 2019 at 1 pm.
