Philadelphia, PA---The ASA College men's and women's track programs finished another successful appearance at Penn Relays. Both the men and women established themselves as one of the best teams nationally in the NJCAA. During the three-day meet, both squads bested four-year colleges and universities including a large number of NCAA Division I schools.
The highlight of the prestigious event for ASA was the men's team 4x400 6th place finish in the College Final. The foursome, consisting of Odou Hazel, Stephan James, Khari Herbert, and Nigel Burgess would run a 3:10.02 in the relay championship. James ran his lap in :45. The Avengers reached one of the three championships in the event by finishing in the top 24 (18th) amongst 89 other schools with James, Herbert, Hazel, and Demar Malcolm's time of 3:10.69.
ASA's spectactular finish in the men's 4x400 now has them ranked 4th in the NJCAA in the event. The top-five ranking couldn't have come at a better time with the NJCAA National Championships right around the corner (May 15-18) in Mesa, AZ.
The Avengers will have a tune-up before the nationals at the Last Chance Meet hosted by Georgian Court University (NJ).
