New Rochelle, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team travels to New Rochelle to compete for the 2019 Region XV championships, hosted by the opponents Monroe Mustangs.

In the last match the Avengers played against the Monroe Mustangs, the Avengers started with a strong defense, but was hurt by the lack of offense.  In the rematch against the Mustangs, the Avengers changed their game plan and formation and had possession of the ball much more than the last game.  The Avengers started the game strong on the attack, but at the 7-minute mark, the Avengers went for a shot on goal but did not convert.  Off the counter-attack, the Mustangs scored the first goal of the game.

Five minutes later, the Avengers made an error on defense and the Mustangs were awarded a penalty kick at the goal.  Although the goalkeeper blocked the penalty kick, the Mustangs scored a goal while the goalkeeper was still recovering.

For the rest of the 1st half, the Avengers were able to hold them back on defense but were unable to convert any possessions.  The half ended 0-2 in favor of the Mustangs.  In the second half, the Avengers gave up a goal after 10 minutes of play.  From there, the Avengers gave up 4 more goals in the 2nd half while the Avengers were not able to have much success on the offensive end.  The game ended 0-7 in favor of the Mustangs.

"The game was against the #1 ranked team in the country," said ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer head coach, Alphonse Prophete.  "They have a lot of firepower, but our team is young and learning.  We're looking to have at least 6 players coming into our program by January and we feel like we'll be ok for next year."

The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team finishes as the Region XV finalist in the 2019 season.
