New Rochelle, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team travelled to New Rochelle to play against regional rivals Monroe Mustangs.
Throughout the game, the Avengers found themselves on the defense, unable to generate much offense against the Monroe Mustangs. However, the Avengers hunkered down defensively especially the first 65 minutes of play. In the latter half of the game, the Avengers received a few yellow cards that gave the Mustangs room to score. In total, with 29 shots, and 16 shots on goals against the Avengers, the Avengers only allowed 6 goals.
"It was a good game," said the Avengers men's soccer head coach Alphonse Prophete. "We'll be playing them again on the 25th. We need to be more physical against them. Defensively we played them well and our goalkeeper played fine, we just lost the ball in the midfield. Hopefully we'll make adjustments and be able to challenge them more in the midfield. Hopefully the outcome will be different."
The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team plays their final game of the regular season on Friday, October 18th against Mercyhurst North East College.
