ASA Brooklyn Avengers Men's Soccer Plays Regional Rivals Ulster to a Draw

Brooklyn, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team travels upstate to play their first regional match of the 2019 season against the Ulster Senators.

Right from the beginning of the game, the Avengers controlled the tempo of the game.  The Avengers had multiple shots on goals but the opposing goalkeeper made multiple key saves that kept the Ulsters alive.  "We played a great game," said the Avengers men's soccer head coach Alphonse Prophete.  "We controlled the tempo of the game 70-30 but we just missed a lot of valuable opportunities."

With 12:30 minutes left in the 2nd half, the Avengers finally converted on one of their opportunities, with a goal from #9 Anthony Ciceron.  However, the celebration was short-lived as 3 minutes later, the Avengers had a misstep that allowed Ulster to even the score.  With two extra 10 minute periods, both teams remained scoreless and the game ended in a tie 1-1.

"Our players are getting better each game," said Prophete.  "We're outrunning the teams and we have more players coming in before our next games this weekend.  We just need to be better organized in the midfield."

The Avengers men's soccer team goes on a road trip this weekend, playing Massasoit CC on Saturday and CCRI on Sunday.
