ASA Brooklyn Avengers Men's Soccer Team Travels to Garden State to Play Against Essex County College

Newark, NJ – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team travelled to the Garden State to play against Essex County College.

Although ending in a score of 9-0 in favor of Essex County College, the score doesn't tell the whole story.  "The team played a great first half," said ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team head coach Alphonse Prophete.   At the end of the first half, the score was 1-0 in favor of Essex, but the lone goal came off a penalty kick.  In the opening minutes of the second half, the Avengers controlled the pace of the game.  "We had multiple shots on goals," said Prophete.  "We just couldn't finish."  The Essex took control of the game with two more goals off penalty kicks and the momentum carried them over the rest of the game.

"We're 0-4 right now, but we're staying positive," said Prophete.  "Our players are getting better each game.  We're still testing out different line-ups and working to put the pieces together.  But we're getting there."

"I like what we're seeing from the team," said Prophete.  "Our players don't quit.  We have a few days off and we expect to have more players coming in.  We'll be okay."

The ASA Brooklyn Avengers next play against Ulster County Community College on Tuesday September 24th at Dietz Stadium, 6 pm.
