ASA Brooklyn Avengers Men's Soccer Team Makes Second Trip to Long Island

Brentwood, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team went to their second trip to Long Island this season, this time against Suffolk County Community College.

The Avengers men's soccer continued with a limited bench, and with only 10 players, the players played long minutes in the game.  "There are two halves to every soccer game," said Avengers men's soccer head coach, Alphonse Prophete.  "They won the first half, but we won the second half."  In the first half of the game, the Avengers didn't start with the necessary intensity and gave up 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.  "We made 4 errors, and they resulted in 4 goals," said Coach Prophete.

In the second half, the Avengers defensive intensity picked up.  The Avengers made 2 goals while giving up 1 goal.  The first goal was made by Issouf Banao half-way into the second half while the second goal was made by Issouf Banao (assisted by DeAndre Gordon) less than 10 minutes left in the game.

"I liked that our players didn't quit after the first half," said Coach Prophete.  "That's character.  We played with heart."

The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team next plays Essex County College on September 14th 2019 at 1 pm in New Jersey.
