ASA Brooklyn Avengers 2019 Men's Soccer Season Preview

Brooklyn, NY– The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's soccer team looks rebuild the 2019 soccer team. Led by newly appointed men's soccer head coach, Alphonse Prophete, the Avengers looks to open their next chapter in their men's soccer program as the 2019 soccer season approaches. 

On the schedule:

The 2019 soccer season starts August 27thagainst Nassau Community College in Long Island. Playing a total of 12 games for the regular season, the biggest game of the season will be against regional rivals Monroe Mustangs on October 12th.  A tentative date of October 26this set for the 2019 Region XV championships.

On the returnees:

"Amiri Manzoor is a good motivator for the team.  Manzoor and Victor Campos have been with the team the entire summer and they have worked hard to improve both as student-athletes and as soccer players. They came into the summer to make a difference and they have the skills to do that.  After last season, they both got a taste of what it is like to achieve success at the next level.  DeAndre Gordon (2018 Region XV Player of the Year) is also a good ambassador for the school."

On the incoming student-athletes:

"I believe that all the incoming players coming to ASA can compete against any institutions in the US."

"On the coaching staff:

"We have 2 volunteer coaches: Jourel Hyppolite and Jasurbek Tursunboyev.  Hyppolite played for me back at Essex College and will handle developmental skill training.  Tursunboyev is a former goalkeeper for the Avengers and will handle both goalkeeping and defense."

Expectations for the season:

"I expect our teams to be amongst the top four in the district."

"I want all the players to be happy where they're at and be happy to represent the institution."
