Men's Soccer advances to District finals and earn Nationals bid.

West Windosr, NJ----The ASA College men's soccer team shocked the junior college soccer world once again this afternoon, topping #2 nationally ranked and Northeast District host, Mercer County CC.  With the match ending in a 0-0 stalemate through two overtimes, the Avengers would advance on penalty kicks to determine the winner.  The Avengers will play in the district final tomorrow against Massasoit CC who defeated Monroe CC 2-0 in today's other semifinal.  Opening kick is set for 11:00 AM.

With a 3-2 advantage in penalty kicks, freshman back Jean Voltaire stepped up and drilled the winner to help the Avengers earn their second bid to the NJCAA Division I National Championships in three years.

ASA gained their advatage in pks after freshman goal keeper Gerardo Amigon stopped Mercer on their first try.

Despite the match ending scoreless after regulation and two overtimes, the semifinal never lacked excitement and great play by both schools.

It was fitting that one of the backs on either side put in the match winner since the position played a major factor in the outcome.
