Moving on to Region Championship!

Brooklyn, NY---The ASA College men's soccer team will be moving on to Region XV-Division I championship for the fourth year in a row.  This afternoon, the Avengers defeated Globe Tech 3-0 in the regional semifinal to advance to play at regular season champion, Monroe College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM at City Park in New Rochelle this Saturday, Oct. 31.

Sophomore midfielder Suleiman Haruna-Iya scored the winning goal in the 34th minute of the postseason match straight ahead from 15 yards out.

Only two minutes later, Iya would find himself in a similar situation and scored his second goal of the half to give the Avengers a comfortable lead before the break.

Freshman goal keeper Gerardo Amigon made a huge save on a penalty kick that would have brought the Knights within a goal going into the second half.

The ASA backs did a solid job protecting the Avengers' lead throughout the second half, not giving the Knights any opportunity to get themselves back into the match.

Freshman Gabriel Viana scored the final goal of the match on a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Amigon recorded the playoff shutout finishing with five saves on the afternoon.
