ASA Brooklyn Avengers Men's Basketball Plays 2019-20 Home Game Opener Against Olympus Sports

Brooklyn, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's basketball team played their 2019-20 home opener against Olympus Sports on November 14th 2019.  The Avengers knew coming in that it would be a challenge as they were a well-coached team staffed with former junior college coaches.

Although the Avengers were able to open up a lead at the beginning of the half, the Avengers entered half-time down by 4 points.  In the second half, the Avengers entered a long period of scoring drought.   The Avengers were able to successfully drive to the basket on multiple occasions but simply had trouble converting their opportunities in the paint.  With the team in an offensive drought and a lackluster effort on defense, the Avengers soon found themselves in a 16-point deficit.  However, a crucial 3 later and the Avengers were finally able to find some momentum on offense.  In the final minutes of the game, the Avengers were able to cut the deficit down to 6 points, but the team gave up two crucial offensive rebounds and the Avengers lost 73-65.

The Avengers saw two players score in double-digits, #11 Taron Loadholt and #22 Jhonny Tovar, both with 10 points.

The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's basketball team goes to Monroe College on November 22nd and November 23rd to play in the 2019 Monroe Invitational.
