Dundalk, MD – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's basketball team started their 2019-20 season in the 2019 Dundalk Mixer. Over the mixer, the Avengers played 3 games over 3 days.
In the first game of the season on November 1st, 2019, the Avengers played against the host, Dundalk Lions. Prior to the 8 pm game, the team travelled over 5 hours by van. The long travel took a toll on the Avengers and drained the team's energy. They weren't able to have the energy to commit on the offensive and defensive end and ended the game with a loss. The Avengers ended the game with a loss. The standouts of the game was #11 Taron Loadholt with 24 points and #13 Brayan de la Cruz with 12 rebounds. In the second game of the season on November 2nd, 2019, the Avengers were able to come back from yesterday's game with a win against Catonsville, winning the game 86-75. Sophomore #2 Jahmier Pugh scored over 20 points in the win.
In the third game of the season on November 3rd, the Avengers played against College of Southern Maryland. After the win the previous night against Catonsville, the team looked to finish the mixer on a high note. Although the team scored above 50%, out-rebounded Southern Maryland, and held them to 44% shooting, the Avengers faltered in overtime and ended up losing the game by 3. The Avengers had 6 players shoot in double digits, including #24 Kevon Leary with 27 points and 9 rebounds. #13 Brayan de la Cruz also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
