Brooklyn, NY----ASA built a solid lead in the second half that they wouldn't relinquish for the 65-64 win over Region XV foe, Globe. The win helps the Avengers improve to 18-11 overall on the season and 5-1 in Region XV-Division I play, which earns them the Region XV regular season title.
ASA was led by freshman guard Rysheen Dorn's 17 points. Dorn was also 2-3 from behind the arc, shooting 4-5 from downtown the past two games. Freshman forward Kanstantin Skirzukha provided a spark off of the bench with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard also reached double figures with 11 points to go along with 5 assists.
ASA would go into the second half with the 31-27 lead. With a little over 11 minutes remaining in the game, ASA would go on a 10-0 run, which would give them their largest lead of the game with 6:47 remaining. Globe would not lay down behind the quickness and scoring of the Knights' AJ Thomas who led all scorers with 24 points. Globe would cut the Avengers' lead to three with :07 remaining and would immediately foul freshman guard Justin Laboy who would calmy knock down the first of two free throws, putting the game out of reach for the Knights who would hit an uncontested three-pointer to end the game.
