The ASA Brooklyn Avengers Football Team Again Sets a New Program High in Points Scored with 98 Points

Holmdel, NJ -- The ASA Brooklyn Avengers football team travelled to New Jersey to play against the NJ Warriors.

In the very first play of the game, the Avengers threw a pass to #6 Andy Martin for a touchdown to go up in the scoreboard right away 17 seconds into the game.  The Avengers defense forced a fumble on the Warriors first drive to get another touchdown from #44 Durrell Johnson to go up 14-0 with 14:11 remaining in the first.  The Avengers then continued to score another 5 touchdowns to go up 49-0 in the first quarter (passing touchdown received by #2 Kaedin Robinson, kick blocked by #8 Dymir Cave for a touchdown, rushing touchdown from QB #1 Nasir Boykin, rushing touchdown from Tyquan Brown – twice.)

In the second quarter, #84 Isaiah Council made a rushing touchdown to go up 56-0 in the second quarter.  With 3:53 left in the quarter, the NJ Warriors made their first mark on the scoreboard with a field goal, marking the score 56-3.  The Avengers ended the second quarter with 3 more touchdowns, 1 from Stephon Rucker-Carroll, and two by the defensive team – both off interceptions (#17 Quentin Woodall and #1 Khyon Fitzpatrick) to go up 77-3.

In the third quarter, the Avengers scored 2 touchdowns, (#18 Michael Britt received pass and #4 Devin Dawkins for a rushing touchdown) to go up 91-3.  In the fourth quarter, the Avengers had a defensive lapse to give the NJ Warriors their first touchdown at the 8:46 mark (extra point was no good), making the score 91-9.  #80 Eugene Boyd of the Avengers scored the final touchdown of the game to end the game 98-9.

The game was the second time this season where the Avengers surpassed their program high in points in a game, with 98.  The Avengers offense generated 574 yards, with 442 net rushing yards while the Avengers defense held the NJ Warriors to 102 yards on offense, with a negative 15 net yards rushing.  The Avengers defensive team also generated 4 touchdowns, 2 from interception returns.

Next week, the ASA Brooklyn Avengers football team plays their first conference game against the Lackawanna Falcons at home on October 5th, 2019, 6 pm at the Aviator Sports Complex, Brooklyn, NY.
