Stony Brook, NY----The ASA College football team scored 30 unanswered points in the first half against NEFC member Louisburg College to cruise to a 43-5 victory. The Avengers improve to 7-1 with the win and 4-0 in Northeast Football Conference play. ASA will play at rival Nassau for the NEFC championship next Saturday at Mitchel Field. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
ASA scored on their first three offensive possessions of the game. On the second play of the game, quarterback Aarom Young would find freshman receiver Olu Izigwire for a 75-yard touchdown reception. With 6:62 to go in the first quarter, freshman kicker Dillon Lawson kicked through a 39-yard field goal. After forcing one of their many "three and outs" of the day, the offense would take over on the Louisburg 43-yard line and score on a two-yard pass from Young to Xavier Wilson.
With third and nine yards to the first down on their own 44-yard line, Young would find Izigwire again on a 56-yard pass, reception, and touchdown.
Louisburg scored in the first half on a blocked extra-point attempt and return.
The special teams play of the game would go to Keon Roman who picked up a boggled punt return from the turf and returned it to the end zone after 80 yards.
The game was won in the trenches, with both ASA lines proving too much for Louisburg. ASA finished with 244 yards on the ground to the Hurricanes' 39.
