Brooklyn, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers played 3 games in week 4 of the 2019 season. The Avengers played their first game of the week on Thursday April 4th, where they played against regional rivals Monroe College. The Avengers were scheduled to play a double-header also against Monroe Mustangs on Friday but was rescheduled due to weather. The Avengers finish the week with a double-header against Hudson Valley CC on Sunday.
On Thursday, the ASA Brooklyn Avengers baseball team played against rivals Monroe Mustang. The game started with #15 Alexis Saldana pitching for the Avengers. With Saldana pitching, the Mustangs were unable to get a run. However, the Avengers weren't able to capitalize and both teams remained scoreless. With Saldana pitching 6 innings, the Avengers went for a change at pitching in the 7th inning. The Mustangs used that opportunity to get in 7 runs in that inning. The game ended in favor of the Mustangs.
On Sunday, the Avengers played a double-header against Hudson Valley CC. In the first game, Hudson Valley ended the first inning up 1-2. The Avengers secured 2 more runs in the 3rd inning but ultimately was unable to catch up to Hudson Valley as the game ended 3-7 in favor of Hudson Valley. Jose Santana led the way with 2 runs for the Avengers. In the second game, the Hudson again led the way after the first inning 2-0 against the Avengers. However, the Avengers were able to get 4 runs in the 3rd inning and continued to record runs in each consecutive innings. The Avengers won the 2nd game of the double-header 11-3. #9 Henry Bernard led the way for the Avengers with 3 runs.
For Week 5, the Avengers will be playing Mercer County CC on Tuesday April 9th and another double-header against Hudson Valley CC on Sunday April 14th.
