Mesa Community College (AZ)---The ASA College men's and women's track field teams continued their climb to national recognition by giving strong performances at the 2014 NJCAA National Championships. The men's squad would return to Brooklyn ranked 13th out of 32 participating teams and women would finish 19th out of 30 schools competing. Both the men and women would set school records along the way during the three day national meet. Members of both team would also come home as NJCAA All-Americans.
Women's Highlight Results:
The Lady Avengers took home sixth place in the 4x800 relay, setting a school record with a time of 9:42.48. Janet Williams, Nia Ruth, Johnnesse Suggs, and Jevina Straker would earn NJCAA All-American honors for the feat.
The 4x400 relay team of Shashawna French, Jevina Straker, Siani Wilson, and Alita Moore would place fifth with a school record time of 3:44.24 earning the foursome NJCAA All-American honors.
Sprinter Alita Moore placed sixth in the 400m dash with a school record time of :55.63 earning her NJCAA All-American honors.
Middle distance runner Jevina Straker placed 6th in the 800m run with a school record time of 2:13.74, which would earn her NJCAA All-American honors.
Men's Highlight Results:
Sprinter Stephan James would pick up his second and third NJCAA All-American honors by placing 2nd in the 400m dash with a time of 46.15 and placing 3rd in the 200m dash with a time of 20.94.
