ASA Avengers Women's Soccer 2018 Season Review:

The ASA Avengers women's soccer team wraps up their 2018 season.  This season was a transition year for the Avengers as they bought in nine different freshman players including the goalkeeper.  Estelle, the leading scorer for the Avengers last year, was also injured the entire season.  The team was also led by new women's soccer head coach, Jonathan Panella, who was ASA Avenger's men's soccer head coach back in 2008-2009.

Quotables from Women's Soccer Head Coach, Jonathan Panella:

On the season: "This past season, the ladies have had to deal with a lot of adversity at different times.  They really did a good job of staying positive on and off the field.  It's the positives that we will build on for next season.  I like to thank all the second year players for their effort and attitude they bought to ASA College the last two seasons."

On the team: "This year is a little bit of a rebuilding season, hopefully the players returning next season will keep the rebuilding process going along with the new players we will be bringing in."

On Asako Ideue: "Asako did a great job in being a leader and captain of the team. Her experience from playing on last year's National Finalist team really helped the team.  She's definitely one of the best female players I've ever coached."

On Maria Cordeiro: "Maria did an excellent job in goal of this season.  She showed that she's one of the best in the country.  She definitely made some big saves in some crucial times."

On Rosaisela Reyes: "Rosy did a great job of left midfield this season and adding a left foot player was a great addition to the team."

On Destiny Beltran: "Destiny did a very good job on filling in for multiple spots from playing forward to midfield to defense."

On Jennifer Argueta: "Jennifer did an outstanding job in both midfield and upfront and was a great addition to the team."

On Myra Martinez: "Myra did a lot in helping to add depth in the midfield."

On Shonagh Cleary: "Shonagh did a great job scoring some crucial goals for us and using her speed at the proper times."

On Leticia Gonzalez: "Leticia was the goalkeeper on last year's team and she did a good job in making the transition to playing center back this season."

On Yoselin Bonola: "Yoselin really improved as the season went on to earn her spot as one of the starting center midfield."

On Janae Lacy: "Janae did a good job of filling in for defense and upfront whenever needed."

On Anna Salomonsson: "Anna did a great job playing wherever she was asked to from playing center midfield, right midfield, or right back."

On Doribeth Zeferino: "Doribeth was a joy to coach and I really enjoyed watching her improve at left back."

On Annakatrin Lamaj: "Anna did a great job at center back and showed she was as good as any center back we played against."

On Magda Romero: "Magda did a good job coming off the bench in whatever position we needed her."

On Estelle: "The team is excited to have Estelle back from her ACL injury for next year."
