#6 Ranked Women’s Soccer Set To Appear in Program’s First National Tournament

With an 11-0-0 perfect season behind them, the ASA Lady Avengers will travel to Melbourne, FL to compete for a national championship. This appearance marks the first time in program history where the women's soccer team has qualified for the national championship. The 2017 tournament will be hosted by Eastern Florida State College. 

ASA spent the entire season ranked in the top 20 according to the NJCAA. The NJCAA has officially released its bracket for the 2017 NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship, where the Avengers have received the six seed. Additionally, the #6 national ranking for the Avengers ties the best ranking in program history, dating back to September of 2016.

ASA has been placed in Pool C of the national championship, where they will matchup with #10 Laramie County (WY) and #3 Moraine Valley (IL). Laramie County comes in with a perfect season at 17-0-0, while Moraine Valley is 16-1-0.

Kick off against Moraine Valley is set for 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14th. The Avengers will also play Wednesday, November 15th against Laramie County at 3:00 PM. 

The scoring format for pool play of the national tournament is as follows: Win/PK Advance = 3 Points | Loss = 0 Points Tiebreakers: Head-to-Head, Goal Differential, Goals Scored, Goals Allowed

The winner of each pool will advance to the championship semifinals. The semifinals matchups are scheduled to be played on Friday, November 17th. The semifinal matchups are determined based on the highest remaining seeds following pool play. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday, November 18th.
