ASA Brooklyn's women's basketball team is off to their best start in program history, winning their first 18 games. The winning streak is enough to boost them to a top 25 ranking, where the Lady Avengers are set at No. 16 nationally. The Avengers are the only team in the state of New York with a top 25 ranking. Inside the Avengers win streak is a huge point differential. ASA on average is outscoring their opponents by 29.8 points-per-game. The points are evenly distributed as well. Four Avengers are averaging double figure scoring, led by Kiara Smith (17.2 points-per-game).
Forward Adriana Córdoba is averaging just shy of a double-double per game with 13.6 points-per-game and 9.1 rebounds per contest.
The Avengers offense has stood out. Thus far, it has averaged 83.9 points-per-game, the 9th best in the country, while also ranking top-10 in field goals made per game. They rank top 25 in both field goal percentage and assists per game. The defense has also been stellar, holding opponents to 32.7-percent from the field, ranked 15th in the country. Going along with the defense against shooters, the Avengers are averaging 18.4 steals-per-game, the second most in the country.
Five games remain for the Avengers in the regular season before the District C Championship on March 9th as well as the National Tournament which tips off on March 19th in Lubbock, Texas at the Rip Griffin Center.
