BROOKLYN, NY --- ASA Women's Basketball won its first game of 2013, using stellar games from several players to defeat Division II #11 CCRI, 71-55, on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore forwards Tiffany Jones and Sashana Bucknor combined for 31 points and 31 rebounds to pace ASA's attack, which saw five total players reach double figures.

Jones (17 pts, 16 rebs) went 7-for-10 from the field, a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line, and added five steals, two blocks and two assists. Bucknor (15 pts, 14 rebs) shot 6-for-9 (1-for-1 3-pt), 2-for-4 from the stripe, and had a steal and block as well.

The two teams, who have played each other extremely tough over the years, gave the crowd a momentum-shifting game early on. ASA (11-3) opened the game on a 9-2 run during the first three minutes, only to see CCRI (14-2) come back behind a 14-6 run of their own to take their only lead of the contest, 16-15, with 12:53 remaining. The Lady Avengers would finish the half on a 19-9 run to go into intermission with a 35-24 advantage.
