BROOKLYN, NY --- Fresh off the heels of being named an NJCAA All-American, sophomore center Brittany Webb (New York, NY) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Seton Hall University in the Fall. She will have two years of eligibility remaining when she begins play during the 2012-13 campaign.
The 6-4 post returned to New York to play for ASA after a season at Columbia State Community College and left a lasting impression. Webb averaged 8.9 PPG, 6.9 RPG and 1.7 BPG while appearing in 25 games for the Lady Avengers. She recorded eleven double-digit scoring games, including four double-doubles. Webb also posted the third-highest single season block total (42) and fifth-highest single season rebound total (173) in the program's young history.
Webb's biggest impact was evident in the team's defense performance this season. As the anchor of the Lady Avengers defense, the team finished the year ranked seventh in Division I team defense (49.1 PPG), up from 14th (55.6 PPG) in 2010-11. This propelled ASA to a 22-5 record, the best in the program's three NJCAA seasons.
In Seton Hall's official release on the signing, Head Coach Anne Donovan said of Brittany, "I have been searching for a strong, dominant post presence like Brittany since coming to SHU. Her dominance on the boards and in the paint will make an immediate impact in our post game."
Webb's signing makes her the second Lady Avenger in three years to move on to a NCAA Division I school, following two-year ASA guard Christina Delille (2009-11), who is attending Hampton University.
