Brooklyn, NY– The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's tennis team played their first match of the 2018-19 season at home in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center against the Post University Eagles.
In the best of 9, the Avengers started the first 3 matches with doubles before moving onto 6 singles. The Avengers was unable to win the first 2 doubles. The second double was especially heartbreaking for the Avengers as they lost in the tiebreaker. Although the Avengers was able to win the third double, being down 1-2 already, the Avengers needed to win at least 4 of the 6 singles. The Avengers was able to do just that as the players showed that they were more comfortable playing singles.
"The team [Avengers] played alright being the first match of the season," said ASA Brooklyn Avengers tennis coach, Sean Floyd. "We definitely want to try and work on conditioning and being more comfortable in the doubles for our next game."
