Men's Tennis Reaches Semifinals in Stony Brook Invitational

Stony Brook, NY----The ASA men's tennis team will represented in the men's Flight A and the Flight A doubles semifinals at the 5th Annual Stony Brook Invitational.  The two day event (Friday and Saturday) will be capped off with the semifinal and final rounds tomorrow.  

Sophomore Tim Srkala made his presence felt today with two convincing victories to advance to the semis.  In the opening round Srkala defeated Stony Brook's Jose Morales 8-3.  In his quarterfinal match Srkala defeated Stevens' Matthew Heinrich (6-2, 3-6, 10-3).  He will face up against Quinipiac's Kei Ezaka.  

There may be a chance of an all-ASA final in Flight A with Avenger newcomer Jack Boling also having success in the opening and quarterfinal rounds.  Boling would defeat Hofstra's Ari Richman in the opener 9-7.  In the quarters he defeated Stony Brook's Raphael Termat (6-4, 7-6(5).  

Srkala and Boling will also represent ASA as a doubles team in the Flight A quarterfinals tomorrow.  They defeated Quinipiac 8-3 and Stony Brook 8-5 respectively.

Sophomore Rafael Alvarez advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Concordia before falling to Hofstra.  

The Avengers finished the 2013 Spring season ranked 2nd nationally in the NJCAA.
