ASA Avengers Men's Soccer Team Falls 0-1 to Mercer Community College

Mercer County, NJ – On October 6th 2018, ASA Avengers men's soccer team travelled to New Jersey to play against the Mercer County Community College Vikings.

The game ended in a score of 0-1 in a loss for the Avengers.  The offense during the game didn't perform to their usual standards, but the back four played decently.  This was also the first time that ASA Avengers' new goalkeeper played this season.  Unfortunately, the Mercer Vikings scored an unexpected goal.

"We had possession of the ball maybe 75-80% of the game," said men's soccer head coach Brett Polow.  "We dictated the play and dictated the momentum, but they were a little more aggressive at certain points of the game.  We had about 7 chances to convert, but we just couldn't finish."

Since the beginning of the 2018 soccer season, the ASA Avengers men's soccer team has missed multiple key players.  That meant that the team has had to play multiple players out of their regular positions.  On the other hand, it provides valuable experiences to the players on the team as down the season, they may be asked to play these positions especially if injuries occur.  However, this will be the first week of practice where the team will have their entire roster.  The Avengers are excited to see how it looks in their next game.

ASA Avengers men's soccer team plays the next game at home on October 12th 2018 12 pm at Aviator Sports Complex against regional rivals Monroe College.
