ASA Avengers Gets Closer to Discovering Their Identity vs Massasoit CC

Brockton, MA – The ASA Avengers men's soccer team travelled to Massachusetts to play against Massasoit Community College who Brett Polow, ASA Avenger's men's soccer head coach, called their toughest opponent so far this season.  "It was a far trip, the field conditions weren't the best, and we are still missing some of our players this season, said Polow.  "Some of the other players were playing for their first or second time."  However, the ASA Avengers prevailed against the Massasoit Warriors 4-2.

The first half of the game was a tough fought game on both sides.  Both teams were held scoreless until the Avengers scored a goal near the 40 minute mark.  "It seems like this season we always get into a slow start, "said Polow.  "It was a physical game and our players are starting to get used to this kind of physicality needed to win the championship."

During the second half, the execution became more acute.  "They couldn't penetrate our defense and we took all the momentum from them on their home field," said Polow.  "On offense, "we were able to exploit both the width and depth of their defense.  Our goalie also did a solid job in the back."

"This was definitely the best team we played so far.  The result of this game was from a good week of training, and guys coming together and playing as a team."

The highlight player of the game was #12 Darrian Chambers who scored 2 goals this game.  Darrian Chambers is a transfer from Mercer CC.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, he grew up playing in some of the top club and academy teams in the city.  He's worked for 5 years in DHL full-time, and he wanted to come back to school to get his degree and make life better for him and his family.  "He's super dynamic, has a high level burst of speed, and is definitely one of our team leaders, said Polow.  "Down the stretch of the season, when we're in a jam, it's probably going to be Darrian that gets us out.  We're excited to have him, I'm happy he's on the team."

The ASA Avengers men's soccer team plays their next game vs Bryant & Stratton – Syracuse on October 3rd 2018.
