ASA Avengers Men's Soccer Team Plays Against the Nassau Lions

Garden City, NY – The ASA Avengers Men's soccer team travels to Garden City to play against the Nassau Lions for the second game of the 2018 season on September 10th.  While the team played in over a hundred degrees weather the last game, this time they played in extremely wet and cold conditions during pouring rain.

"Our guys stepped in and gave a courageous effort under very difficult conditions," said ASA Avengers Men's Soccer Head Coach Brett Polow.  "We're still trying to figure out which guys are playing in what positions.  However, I was happy to see some guys step in and fill some roles that they may be asked to do later in the season.   We're still waiting for a big part of our soccer roster to come, but we'll get there."

During the game, Nassau scored the first goal of the game 3 minutes in.  ASA responded back with a goal of their own from Jean Charles five minutes later.  For the rest of the game, both teams were unable to score another point until Nassau scored the final point with just a little over a minute left in overtime.  The game ended in a loss for the Avengers, 2-1.  The men's soccer team is now 1-1 for the season.

"Our defense was good considering the situation," said Polow.  On the offensive end, we possessed but we just couldn't finish."

The ASA Avengers Men's and Women's soccer team travels to Essex, NJ next to play a doubleheader against Essex Community College on September 15th.
