Michael Bolvin, the starting goalkeeper for the ASA College Avengers men's soccer team recently joined ABC's Good Morning America, experiencing life on set with Michael Strahan and Robin Roberts. Bolvin, the sophomore originally from Düsseldorf, Germany, came to the United States to play soccer at ASA College in Brooklyn, NY.
In Germany, he played for some of the most prestigious soccer clubs in the country. He was a member of the U18 Germany national team.
"It was an amazing opportunity to practice and to compete with some of the best players in my country," said Bolvin.
In his sophomore season at ASA, Michael has started 13 games. He has recorded eight wins, and a total of only 12 goals allowed. He has recorded three shutouts, while saving 58 shots at an .829% rate. Next week, he will compete with the Avengers for the Region XV Championship, against the Monroe College Mustangs.
At ASA, Michael is studying Business and Accounting and is scheduled to graduate at the end of the Fall 2017 semester. An outstanding student on and off the field, Michael maintains a 3.7 GPA while being one of the biggest stars on the soccer team.
He is being recruited by top Division I schools such as St. Johns University, Stony Brook University and even University of Southern California in the PAC 12.
Assessing his last two years he remarked, "studying and playing soccer at ASA has been a blessing. I am so appreciative for the opportunity I have been given. I never would have had the access to intern at a place like Good Morning America if I was not studying at a NYC based school."
"My dream is to play Division I soccer," Michael said. "I would love to go to California, I love it out there and it's a great place to be for entrepreneurs."
Bolvin say's it's easy to look up to a star like Michael Strahan. "He's one of the biggest stars here in New York, after a 15-year career in New York playing for the Giants. It's amazing working with him, he has great energy," said Bolvin.
Bolvin said he's most looking forward to being in a new environment, building connections, learning and most importantly having fun while working on set at Good Morning America. As a competitive person, Michael is always looking to develop his own skills.
"Discipline is one of my best skills, I have to take this experience very seriously. It's not easy when you have big dreams. You have to be dedicated, organized and responsible," said Bolvin.
