ASA Avengers Tie Nationally Ranked #2 Monroe College In 2OT

RECAP: A defensive matchup between the ASA Avengers and the Monroe Mustangs sent the two teams in to double overtime. The game woudl finish in a 0-0 tie at the end of the two overtimes. Monroe entered the game ranked #2 in the nation at 10-0-1 with eight shutouts, while scoring at a rate of just under five goals per game.  Monroe is ranked 6th in the country with 20.3 shots-per-game. Their 58 goals scored on the season ranks them 10th in the nation as well.

The Mustangs outshot the Avengers 20-6, as well as in shots on target 5-2. Despite that, goalie Michael Bolvin managed to keep a clean slate saving all five shots on goal.

Five of the avengers six shots came in the second half. Gateau Claudenor led the Avengers with half of their shots, including one strike on goal.

UP NEXT: The ASA Avengers will face off with Monroe again on October 28th for the start of the postseason. The winner of this matchup will be named the Region XV champions and will earn a spot in the North Eastern district playoffs.
