#15 ASA Falls In Epic Season Finale

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --- The #15 ASA Men's Soccer team completed the greatest season in program history just one win shy of their first District tournament.

The Avengers fought valiantly, but fell 1-0 in overtime to Monroe College on Saturday night in New Rochelle.

ASA and Monroe played an evenly matched contest throughout regulation, with defense being the theme of the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Angel Cordero played exceptionally well for the Avengers, making several incredible saves during the first 90 minutes of the game.

However, Monroe made the final play in the 95th minute, corraling a header defended by sophomore Franck Praudel and shooting the game winner from the top of the box.

ASA finishes the year with several programs bests and records:

  • 12-2-2 overall record, a program-record and nine-win increase from 2011
  • 3-1 Region XV record, T-1st and program-record
  • Ranked as high as #15 in the nation in first season ever being ranked
  • Nine of 12 wins by shutout

ASA College commends Avengers Men's Soccer on an outstanding season and have high hopes for 2013!
