Lacrosse Loses Close One at #10 Union CC

Cranford, NJ---The ASA College men's lacrosse team was right there this afternoon, but #10 Union was able to escape a late 4th quarter surge by the Avengers.  The home team would hold on for the 14-12 victory to improve to 3-1 on the season.  ASA drops to 1-5.  The Avengers will be back in action on Friday, March 27th, at the College of Southern Maryland.  Face-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Trailing 14-9 with just under four minutes to play in the match, the Avengers scored three unanswered goals to end the match.  

ASA struck first in the first quarter on a Steve Zolezzi goal assisted by Briele Capels.  The Avengers led 4-3 going into the second period.  

The Avengers extended their lead to 5-3 in the first minute of the second period.  However, the Owls stormed back with five unanswered goals to grab the 8-5 halftime lead.  

ASA came within a goal at the 4:54 mark in the third quarter on an unassisted Kier Johnson goal.  The Avengers did not score again until their late surge.  

Johnson led the Avengers with four goals and an assist.  Capels and Zolezzi each netted three goals.
