ASA Brooklyn Avengers Men's Basketball Plays Regional Rivals Monroe Mustangs

Brooklyn, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers men's basketball team plays their second conference game of the 2018-19 season against regional rivals Monroe Mustangs.

The Avengers opened the game with a much different starting lineup that what we were accustomed to seeing this season.  This led to a faster paced offense and that helped the Avengers lead the game until 9:44 left in the first half.  However, due to a number of bad possessions by the Avengers, the Mustangs captured the lead and led by as much as 29-22.  The Avengers responded by out-rebounding the Mustangs and making a number of key defensive stops by switching to full-court pressure that led to the Avengers leading 38-37 at the half.

In the second half, the Avengers continued their momentum from the first half with a combination of strong offensive and defensive play.  However, late in the game, the Avengers were unable to find any sort of offense rhythm as they shot 27.3% in the 2nd half compared to 43.8% in the first half.   The Monroe Mustangs capitalized on the Avengers misses with a series of fast breaks to seal the game 69-65.

The ASA Brooklyn Avengers next travels to Sullivan County Community College to play on Saturday February 9th.
