ASA Brooklyn Avengers Travels to Bronx to Play Against Hostos Community College

Brooklyn, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers travels to Bronx to play against Hostos Community College on January 15th 2019.

In the first half, the Avengers wanted to try and take away penetration and keep guys away from the paint.  However, they were not as successful as they would like and it hurt the Avengers. On the other hand, the Avengers had active hands and had at least 12 deflections and were able to get a number of steals.  On the offensive end, we were able to score off their turnovers on the fast break.  In the half-court game, we tried to get the ball inside since we had a size advantage but the Avengers missed a number of lay-ups and dunks.  Fortunately, the Avengers were able to actively stay alive on the transition defense.  The Avengers were able to go up by the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Avengers continued to try and throw the ball down to our bigs and we were able to exploit our size advantage and convert more than the first half.  "A lot of credit to Hostos," said the Avengers Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, Thomas Patterson.   "They never went down quietly, they kept fighting.  We were fortunate enough to pull away from them and secure the victory."

The Avengers were led by Miguel Simon, who had 16 points and 14 rebounds while Cesar Ramirez had a game high in 21 points.  Robert Terrero and Travon Brown also scored in double digits with 12 points.

The Avengers next travels to Monroe College to play in the Martin Luther King Tournament on Jan 19th and Jan 20th 2019.
