New Rochelle, NY – The ASA Avengers men's basketball team played their second game of the 2018 Monroe College Invitational against Baltimore City Community College on November 30th 2018.
The Avengers started off hot to open the game, with three straight three pointers to go up 9-0 to start the game. However, the Baltimore City Panthers switched to a combination of full-court press with tough physical defense to catch the Avengers off-guard. At the end of the half, the Avengers led 35-33. In the second half, the Avengers struggled to get their offense going. With the game tied 52 apiece at 11:24 left in the second half, the Avengers were unable to regain the lead for the remainder of the game.
#5 Rob Terrero led the Avengers with 18 points and 13 rebounds while three other Avengers (Miguel Simon, Cesar Ramirez, Arsheen Jones) were able to score in double digits. However, overall the Avengers shot 36.5% from the floor. "The players weren't able to execute the offense and we didn't have ball movement," said men's basketball head coach Devonne Martinez. Although the Avengers won the rebounding battle 40-33, the Avengers had a hard time stopping the Panthers as they shot 50% from the floor.
The Avengers look to play their next game against Army Prep at West Point on Monday December 3rd, 2018.
