Bryn Mawr, PA----The ASA men's basketball team defeated Harcum College this afternoon 82-70 for sole ownership of the Region XV regular season championship. ASA improves to 24-4 with the win and 7-1 in regional play.
Coming together all week for wins, the Avengers did just that this afternoon. All nine Avengers that played scored a bucket and contributed in other ways for the victory. Sophomore guard Daquan Brickhouse led ASA with 18 points. He was aided by sophomore guard Eian Davis' 13 points and nine assists. Sophomore forward Victor Ljuljdjuraj kept his trend of double-doubles going with 12 points and eleven rebounds. Forward Quillar Marion provided a huge spark off of the bench finishing with ten points and four rebounds.
ASA jumped out to an early 6-0 lead to start th game. The Bears responded with an 8-0 run of their own to take their first lead of the contest with 15:36 to go in the first half. The lead changed hands for the next few minutes until ASA was able to patch together a couple of runs for the 40-30 lead with 1:27 to go in the first half. The Avengers would go into halftime with the 42-35 lead.
ASA kept at least a two possession lead until 10:17 remaining in the game. Only up 59-57 with 8:21 left in the game, ASA would go on a 6-0 run, puncuated by a three-pointer by freshman guard Micqueel Martin. Up 65-59 with a little over six minutes to go, the Avengers would get another huge three-point field goal from forward reserve Daniel Marc-Sears. Harcum could not respond again.
ASA captures their second Region XV regular season championship in a row with the victory. ASA will now be the #1 seed in next weekend's Region XV-Division I tournament. Stay tunes for the remaining seedings and the Avengers' opponent.
