Men's Basketball Opens Season With 82-62 Win Over Burlington

Brooklyn, NY----The ASA College men's basketball team was victorious in their first game of the 2012-13 season.  The Avengers defeated Burlington CC 82-62 in front of an enthusiastic opening day crowd at St. Francis College.

The Avengers would jump out to an early 13-3 lead in the first five minutes of the game.  ASA maintained a double-digit lead almost halfway through the first half.  The Barons of Burlington would storm back late in the half to go into haltime with the 37-36 lead.

The lead would change three times in the first three minutes of the second half until the Avengers would take the lead for good with 16:31 on a Rysheen Dorn lay-up.  The Avengers ended the game with their largest lead.  

Sophomore transfer Quillar Marion led all scorers with 21 points on 9-13 from the field.  He also led the Avengers with nine rebounds.  Sophomore guard Rysheen Dorn added 14 points.  

The ASA press was tenacious especially in the second half forcing 29 Burlington turnovers.  Freshman Kareem Roach snatched five steals for the Avengers.  

ASA will be back on the hardwood on Tuesday when they will travel to Westpoint, NY to take on Army Prep.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm in the Knights' new prep facility.
