Eight different Avengers football players were named as players of the week by the NEFC this year. Quarterback, Stone Labanowitz and defensive tackle Jaicorious Johnson were both named as Offensive and Defensive players of the year by the Northeast Football Conference. Head coach Joe Osovet was also selected as the conference's coach of the year, his second time receiving that honor by the NEFC and his first as ASA's head coach.
Labanowitz ranked high nationally in multiple statistical categories. Stone was the most efficient quarterback in the league according to the NJCAA, while he held the best completion percentage among all quarterbacks. Labanowitz was one of 14 quarterbacks to pass for over 2000 yards. Labanowitz led the Avengers offense to rank fifth in points per game and as well as eighth in total yards per game.
Johnson was ranked fourth overall in the NEFC with 51 tackles while being ranked second in the tackles for loss category. The Avengers ranked #1 in the entire country in yards allowed per game, with Johnson as one of the team's leader on defense.
The Avengers finished the season 8-1, winning their last six games. ASA will play their final game of the season in Mesa, Arizona as they compete in the Valley of the Sun Bowl on December 2 at 3:00 pm. The Avengers will seek their second bowl title on their third appearance.
