Uniondale, NY - ASA handed #10 ranked Lackawanna their first loss of the season, as the Avengers advance to 4-1 on the season, 1-0 in conference play. After a defensive first quarter, ASA put themselves on the board halfway through the second quarter. The Lackawanna Falcons responded just before the end of the second quarter, sending the game to halftime even at 7-7. The Avengers came out of the gate strong in the second half, scoring early, but missing the extra point. Lackawanna answered with a touchdown of their own, giving them their only lead of the game at 14-13. ASA would go on to score the final touchdown of the game at the end of the third quarter. The Avengers would convert on a two-point conversion putting the final score at 21-14.
"Words can't express how happy I am for my great staff and our incredible players that we get to coach every day," said head coach Joe Osovet after the game. Osovet continued, "We're looking forward to playing Erie CC as we prep for our big game versus Monroe in a few weeks. Stone Labanowitz is a great leader on offense, but our defensive line came up big and put us in a great position to win against one of the best teams in the country."
ASA's offense Labanowitz was an offensive standout in Saturday's game, completing 23 of his 29 passing attempts for 274 yards and two touchdowns. Labanowitz finished the game with a 79.3-percent completion percentage, his highest of the season. Stone's passing was well distributed with eight different recievers touching the ball. Donte Thomas-Williams recorded multiple touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.
The Avengers defense was very active again, forcing five punts from Lackawanna along with four sacks. The defensive line as a unit held Lackawanna to 1.1 average yards-per-rush on 37 attempts. Hozey Haji' Badri led the way on the defensive front with 2.5 sacks for 19 yards, along with 3.5 tackles-for-losses totalling another 22 yards.
- This was ASA's first win against Lackawanna since 2014. ASA is now 4-2 all-time versus Lackawanna.
