The ASA Avengers have a new head coach in Joe Osovet, who expects to bring his high-octane spread offense attack to the Brooklyn campus.
Coach Osovet is succeeding Chris Boden, who took over the head football reigns at ASA College's Miami campus.
Osovet is coming off a very successful run at Nassau Community College where he was named the 2014 USA Sports Writer JUCO Coach of the Year and the 2014 Northeast Football Conference Coach of the Year. The heralded head coach will also be the Avengers' offensive coordinator, as he looks to improve the team's 25.1 points per game mark of a season ago.
Coach's innovative spread offense has been a boon in the past, leading the NJCAA in most offensive categories throughout the years. He's produced several 1,000-yard rushers during his tenure and has lorded over offenses that have been known to put points on the board in a hurry.
He is a regularly featured speaker at Glazier and Nike Football clinics across the country, and will no doubt look to expound that knowledge to the ASA Avengers.
The Babylon High School alum is a member of Newsday's All-Long Island Football Team, was a former player at NCC, and was also on football scholarship at Northeastern University.
Coach Osovet currently resides in Bethpage with his wife Sandra and their two children, son Austin and daughter Brooke Marie.
