BROOKLYN, NY --- On the most exciting day of the college football recruiting season, five more ASA College student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent with NCAA Division I institutions. This brings ASA's grand total to 16 Division I signees for the 2013 class. Here is a look at today's signees:
DE Desmond Hollin (Florida State University): The Miami, Florida native was a dominant force off of the edge for the Avengers the past two seasons. As a sophomore, Hollin led the Avengers in sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (17.5). His productivity helped him earn All-Northeast Football Conference First Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors. Hollin will join a storied program that finished 2012 with a #10 ranking in the final AP poll and defeated Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
OL Ali Kassem (North Carolina State University): The massive 6-foot-6, 350-pound offensive guard was a wall for the Avengers this past season. He was part of a rushing attack that finished fifth in the NJCAA in yardage. For his efforts, Kassem was named to the All-Northeast Football Conference First Team. The Cincinnati, Ohio native will join a Wolfpack squad that finished 2012 with a winning record and a huge upset win against Florida State in Raleigh.
RB Hosey Williams (University of Cincinnati): Considered one of the best junior college running backs in the country, the Miami, Florida native had an outstanding sophomore year for the Avengers. Williams finished fourth in the nation in rushing, averaging 126.9 yards per game. He also finished eighth in the country in rushing touchdowns with 15. For his efforts, Williams was named a First-Team NJCAA All-American & both the Northeast Football Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. He will be joining a Bearcats club that finished with a 10-3 record, including a 5-2 Big East record and a win over Duke in the Belk Bowl.
SS Kennedy Ogbonna (University of Delaware): The speedy Washington, D.C. native was a nightmare for opposing offenses this past season. Ogbonna finished the 2012 season with a solid 32 tackles, including 2.5 for a loss. The strong rover will join Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco's, alma mater for spring ball.
LB Kadeem Willis (Murray State University): The fast and physical linebacker and Murray, Kentucky native chose to go back home by signing with the Racers. Willis, who switched to the defensive side this year after a strong 2011 season at running back, never missed a beat and was named to the All-Northeast Football Conference Second Team as a result. Willis finished first on the team in tackles with 66, including eight tackles for a loss and two sacks. Willis is the second Avenger to choose Murray State, with former defensive end Kevin Robinson scheduled to graduate in the spring after a stellar career.
