Brooklyn, NY----#10 ASA exploded in the first half 49-7 to defeat #16 Dean this afternoon 69-14. The Avengers improve to 6-0 with the win and 2-0 in Northeast Football Conference play. Dean falls to 4-2 with the loss.
Sophomore running back, Hosey Williams, would get the Avengers off and running on a 55-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the game. Williams would score again in the second quarter and finish with a game-high 166 yards on the ground.
In the very beginning of the second quarter, sophomore wide receiver, Ouslet Volcy, would begin his career performance of 250 yards receiving on eight catches and four touchdowns with a 63-yard touchdown reception from freshman quarterback Daniel Pietrangelo who had a career day of his own with 293 yards and five touchdown passes on 12-19 passes.
Volcy would score two more times in the second quarter on 53 and 44-yard passes. Freshman wide receiver, Jessie Yorke, put the examation on the first half with a 14-yard touchdown reception to go into halftime 49-7.
ASA would cruise in the second half allowing only one score on th first possession of the second half.
ASA's defense couldn't have been more solid from the line to the secondary allowing only 2 rushing yards. The Avengers intercepted two Dean passes for touchdowns accredited to sophomore Leighton Dennis for thirty yards and Zedrick Gardner for 25 yards. Freshman defensive lineman Chris Manns had Dean's number finishing with five tackles all for a loss. Freshman linebacker Rashaun Smith led ASA with seven tackles.
ASA will be back to NEFC play next Saturday, October 13, as they travel to Lackawanna. Kickoff is scheduled for 12pm.
