Football Returns To NJCAA National Poll At #20

BROOKLYN, NY --- Avengers Football's dominating start to the 2012 campaign has earned the program this week's #20 spot in the NJCAA Top 20 National Poll. The ranking is the first ASA has received in Football since a three-week run in the polls during the 2010 season (October 26th-November 9th).

ASA (3-0, 1-0 NEFC) has put together a great resume' to begin the season, which includes three straight road shutouts, an average of 57.3 PPG and three Northeast Football Conference (NEFC) Player of the Week awards (2 Offensive, 1 Defensive).

Back in 2010, ASA received its first-ever ranking at #20 in the 10/26 poll, moved up to #19 in the 11/2 rankings, and peaked at #17 in the 11/9 poll. Overall, the Avengers are 1-1 in games played as a ranked program (bye week after the 10/26 poll).

Along with Soccer's current #19 ranking, this marks the first time that the two sports have been ranked at the same time.

Football also kept a place in the JCGridiron.com "Dirty 30" rankings, coming in at #25 in their latest poll, which was released this week.

ASA will play its first game this season as a ranked program this Saturday, September 22nd at 1:00 PM against non-conference Monroe College at Old Boys High Field for the Avengers' home opener.

Spots are still available for the Fan Bus to the game as well. To reserve a seat, click HERE...space is filling fast!
