ASA Marches Over Albright 61-0

Reading, PA----The ASA College football team did not have much trouble with the Albright College JV squad this afternoon cruising to a 61-0 victory.  The Avengers open their season with a 1-0 record.  

The Avengers scored on the first play of the first offensive drive of the game on a 62-yard Hosey Williams rushing touchdown and never looked back.  Williams would finish with two more touchdowns (two rushing and one receiving) and 179 all-purpose (103 rushing) on the afternoon.  

Lightening would strike twice as ASA would score on the first play of their second offensive posession on a 46-yard passing touchdown from freshman quarterback Daniel Pietrangelo to freshman wide receiver Lovie Banks-Rose.  Banks-Rose all receivers on the afternoon with 94 receiving yards on four catches.  Starting quarterback Daniel Pietrangelo would play two solid quarters connecting on five of seven passes for 122 yards.  Red-shirt freshman quarterback Evan Pittman would take over in the second half finishing with 149 yards on 6-10 passing and a touchdown pass.

ASA would go into the half with the 28-0 lead after rushing touchdowns by freshman Branden Stout and sophomore James Kenner.  Stout scored again in the second half.  Kenner finished with a game-leading 127 yards on the ground.  

ASA's defense was just as impressive forcing the Albright offense into -83 total yards.  The Avengers also forced three safeties.  

Sophomore transfer defensive lineman Robert Terrell led the way on defense with eight tackles including 3.5 tackles for a loss.  Sophomore linebacker Kadeem Willis was also very active finishing with seven tackles including 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for a loss.  Sophomore defense end Trevor Harris was explosive off of the edge finishing with five tackles including 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss.  In the secondary, freshman cornerback Paris Ratliff would register the first interception of the 2012 season.

The Avengers are back on the gridiron on Saturday, September 8th, as they open their Northeast Football Conference schedule up at Hudson Valley CC.  Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
