ASA Brooklyn Avengers Baseball Team Splits Double-Header vs Mercer County CC

West Windsor, NJ – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers baseball team travels to New Jersey to play against Mercer County Community College in a double-header for week 2 of their 2019 season.

In game 1 of the double-header, the ASA Avengers quickly jumped to a 5-0 lead after the 2nd inning.   However, the Mercer Vikings slowly recovered over the course of the game and the Avengers did record another point until the 7th inning.  With the game tied at 7-7 after the 7th inning, #37 Richard DiMartino was able to get a home run at the 9th and win the game for the Avengers 8-7.  Seven different Avengers was able to secure a run for the win, with #19 Louis Winter securing 2.

In game 2, the Avengers again was first to be able to put up a point on the scoreboard with a run from #10 Marlon Pertuz.  However, after Pertuz's run in the 1st inning, both teams entered a scoring drought.  In the 6th inning, the Mercer Vikings record 3 runs and the Avengers lost the game 1-3.

For Week 3, the Avengers play Dutchess CC after a rain postponement on Wednesday, March 27th followed by a game against Ulster on Friday, March 29th.  In the weekends, the Avengers will be playing a double-header vs Dutchess CC on Saturday, March 30th.
