QUEENS, NY --- ASA Baseball made their Saturday doubleheader against Queensborough CC look like a personal batting practice, scoring a whopping 40 runs on the Tigers to take the two games (stopped by mercy rule) by the scores of 29-2 and 11-1.
In Game 1, freshman Kevin Victoriano led the way for the Avengers, going 5-for-6 at the plate with a pair of homeruns, five runs scored and a team-high nine RBI. Eight different players accounted for ASA's 17 hits, including five players with two or more.
Freshman Carlos Tejeda claimed the victory in the first game, striking out five in three innings while allowing two runs and five hits.
After both teams went scoreless in the first inning, ASA posted 10 runs over the next two innings then slammed QCC for 15 runs in the fourth before finishing with 4 runs in the fifth.
In Game 2, ASA produced more of the same, scoring 11 runs in the first four innings. Freshman Luis Perez paced the Avengers, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored and one of ASA's three homeruns.
Freshman Hector Perez pitched a complete game, striking out five while only allowing one run on three hits.
