Baseball Shuts Out Bronx 12-0

Bronx, NY----The ASA College baseball team continued their winning ways this afternoon at Bronx CC, defeating the Broncos 12-0.  The Avengers improve to 8-3 with the victory.

ASA's starting pitcher Placido Torres threw a gem, giving up only one hit in five innings pitched.  Torres also racked up nine strikeouts.

The ASA offense was very productive in five innings, with every batter with the exception of one getting a hit.  Center fielder Alex Echevarria was a perfect 3-3 with three doubles good for four RBIs for the Avengers.  Left fielder Junior Maldonado scored three runs for ASA, getting on base twice with singles.

ASA will be back on the field tomorrow at Bergen CC for a doubleheader.  First pitch of the first game is scheduled for noon.

The win is ASA's first since receiving votes for the top 25 in the NJCAA Division I poll released on Tuesday.
