Six Avengers Named to All-Region Team; Robinson Grabs POY

Brooklyn, NY------ The Region XV regular season baseball champs, ASA College, had six student-athletes named to the All-Region Team.  Sophomore pitcher, Patrick Robinson, was named the Region XV-Division Player of the Year.  The team finished with a 27-18 record including an 8-2 record against Region XV-Division I opponents.  Here is look at the All-Region Avengers:

Patrick Robinson (Player of the Year)- The sophomore right-handed pitcher couldn't have been more solid for ASA this season.  The Goshen, NY native finished the regular season with an 8-2 record and a 2.95 ERA.  Robinson finished with an ASA record 94 strikeouts in the regular season.  He will look to add to that in regional playoffs and beyond.  He is the third ASA baseball player in a row to win the award.  

Eduardo Valdez- The sophomore right fielder had another stellar season with his bat, leading the region in batting average at .470.  Valdez finished with 39 hits for the regular season including 7 doubles and 2 triples.  He also scored 32 runs in 27 games played.  It is his second year in a row to be named to the All-Region team.

Johnathan Tineo-The sophomore from Brooklyn had another solid year for the Avengers.  The third baseman finished with a .328 batting average finishing with 42 hits in 42 games played. He also finished with 20 RBIs in the regular season. 

Ernesto Gomez The outfielder from Puerto Plata, DR had a strong freshman campaign for the Avengers.  He would finish the regular season with a .336 batting averages on 41 hits in 38 games played.  Gomez would finish second on the team RBIs with 27.

Andrickson Zorrilla- The anchor in the outfield didn't have much trouble getting on base this season with a .500 OBP.  Once he got on base was where he was very productive stealing 18 bases (team leader) on 18 attempts.  His speed also allowed him a team leading three triples on the season.  

Jose Guaba- "Pure power" and "clutch" are words used when talking about this 1B/C from Santiago, DR.  Guaba would finish the regular season with a region leading 5 homeruns and 41 RBIs on the season.  His strong arm feel for the game make him an attractive prospect at that 'next level'.
