The ASA Avengers got back on track and back to its winning ways following an explosive late-game rally in a 13-6 win over Lackawanna College.
The bats got hot for ASA (16-17-1) with a seven-run effort in the top of the seventh inning to give the Avengers an insurmountable 13-3 lead. The road team jumped on Lackawanna starter Alex Varaska (4-3) as they chased him away in the sixth after knocking him around for six runs on seven hits.
Conversely, ASA's staff enjoyed a rather drama-free afternoon. Five Avengers pitchers combined to yield just eight total hits, as the staff allowed just three earned runs. Leurys Diaz (4-1) earned the win, as he went six solid innings and allowing just one earned run and fanning three.
Shortstop Miguel Medina (1-for-5 with a walk) caused the most damage at the plate as he knocked in three runs and scored once. Rightfielder Oliver Liranzo (2-for-5), first baseman David Torres (2-for-5, two runs), and reserve outfielder Darlin Division (1-for-2, run) each added two RBIs to balance out the ASA attack.
Up next for an Avengers squad looking to get back to the .500 mark is a Saturday doubleheader matchup at Harford Community College.
